So why should I remap my ECU?
When vehicles are distributed throughout the world, manufacturers adopt a one map fits all policy. This one map has to take into account many different factors that are necessary for each export country. Areas such as climate, emissions, fuel quality etc all have to be considered by the manufacturer. What this means is that a vehicle ECU is never optimised for one individual situation. Remapping your ECU can ensure you are optimizing your performance be it the power of your vehicle or the fuel efficiency.
Will this void the warranty?
For new cars or those with under factory warranty you will need to consult your own warranty as this can vary by manufacturer. The ECUPROGRAM file changes that are made to the vehicle are generally undetectable. However, if it is important to you, ECUPROGRAM can re-tune back its original file before you go to the dealer for services. We will do this at no charge and then will re-tune the ECUPROGRAM file afterwards.
What if the dealer flashed the car back to stock?
We offer $100 for re-flash if it is required.
What about servicing the vehicle?
Our software does not alter the service schedule and procedures of the vehicle.
How is the software tested?
We have partners/contacts with another tuner-programmers and colleagues in Europe (U.K, Norway and Germany). We constantly keep updating/sharing new versions for every car on the market, even the newest ones. Some tuners post dyno results than have been fabricated. We can dyno your car before and after the remap to see the gains (additional cost involved).
What if I have other modifications such exhaust, intake, etc?
Many car enthusiasts like to add these aftermarket products. ECUPROGRAM can remap your vehicle with these new additions to optimize the gains on your vehicle.
Would I receive help with the removal of the ECU?
Yes, especially locally in Calgary. However, for some cars the ECU will not need to be removed because we have the tools that connect directly to OBD2 port. Other models will require the ECU to be removed to be programmed. This can be done locally in an auto service shop or ECUPROGRAM can go to your location/garage and retrieve it (next day guaranteed service for retrieval).
Why don't the manufacturers program the ECU to optimal settings as standard practice?
Manufacturers have to allow for the fact that the vehicle could be going anywhere in the world. This is significant because they have to allow for constantly hot climates very cold climates, and very poor fuels. They also have to allow for customers abusing the car, for example completely missing services. When we re-map you vehicle, its mainly for performance, however, it is also fine tuning the engine to run perfectly, as each individual engine is different. When we're finished, your car will run as it always should have done.
Can re-mapping be reversed?
Absolutely. Should you ever wish to have your car reverted to its original settings (for example to sell the vehicle as standard), then this is no problem. We always perform backup of all the original files of the vehicles.
How long does the re-mapping take?
For those serviced in a garage, the time needed for tuning your vehicle will vary. 90% of vehicles require up to 1 hour to service. Others may require up to 4 hours for reprogramming. In the case of Mobile Remapping (going to your garage/place) or couriered ECUs to our business, these will be serviced by the end of the next day upon receipt.
How can I ship the ECU to you?
If you are within in Canada, FEDEX/UPS/TNT next day/priority courier is the best way to send and ensure fast delivery. Other couriers will be accepted based on the clients' preference.
