The AMG M177 “Hot-Inside-V” engine is one of the most advanced turbocharged V8 platforms ever produced by Mercedes-AMG. With the turbochargers mounted inside the cylinder banks, the engine delivers exceptional throttle response and efficiency.
 
Despite its impressive factory performance, the production calibration contains conservative boost targets, torque management strategies, and throttle mapping designed to meet global emissions regulations and long-term reliability margins.
 
Our performance calibration removes those electronic limitations and recalibrates the MED17 engine management system to safely unlock the true performance potential of the M177 platform.
The result is dramatically improved mid-range torque, sharper throttle response, and significantly increased peak horsepower — while maintaining all factory engine protection systems.

Stage 2 calibration increases turbocharger efficiency and airflow capacity while maintaining proper fueling control, ignition timing stability, and thermal protection strategies.

Boost Control Optimization
Turbocharger boost targets and wastegate duty cycles are recalibrated to deliver stronger, more consistent boost pressure throughout the powerband.
Torque Model Calibration
The Mercedes torque model is refined to allow higher load targets while maintaining proper communication with the transmission control system.
Enhanced Throttle Response
Factory throttle mapping is softened for comfort. Our calibration delivers a far more direct and linear throttle response, especially noticeable in Sport+ and Race modes.
Transmission Integration
Torque reporting and load calculations are optimized to work seamlessly with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed transmission, allowing faster shifts and improved clutch holding capacity.

Recommended Supporting Upgrades
Spark Plugs: For Stage 2 setups we recommend NGK 97506 (1-step colder) spark plugs gapped to 0.022".
Fuel Requirement: Minimum 93 Octane (98 RON) required to achieve advertised performance figures.
Optional Feature: Sport+ / Race mode enhanced overrun crackles (pops & bangs) available upon request.
