The Mercedes-AMG GLC63 combines the practicality of a luxury SUV with one of AMG’s most powerful production engines — the M177 4.0L Biturbo V8.

Featuring AMG’s “Hot-Inside-V” turbocharger layout, the engine delivers exceptional responsiveness and torque. However, factory ECU calibration includes conservative boost targets, torque limits, and throttle mapping designed to meet emissions standards and long-term reliability margins.

 

Our performance calibration safely removes those electronic restrictions and recalibrates the MED17 engine management system to unlock the true performance capability of the M177 platform.

The result is dramatically improved throttle response, massive mid-range torque, and significantly higher peak horsepower — all while maintaining Mercedes-AMG’s factory safety protections.

Stage 2 calibration increases turbocharger efficiency and airflow capacity while maintaining proper fueling control, ignition timing stability, and thermal protection strategies.

Boost Control Optimization

Turbocharger boost targets and wastegate duty cycles are recalibrated to deliver stronger, more consistent boost pressure throughout the powerband.

Torque Model Calibration

The Mercedes torque model is refined to allow higher load targets while maintaining proper communication with the transmission control system.

Enhanced Throttle Response

Factory throttle mapping is softened for comfort. Our calibration delivers a far more direct and linear throttle response, especially noticeable in Sport+ and Race modes.

Transmission Integration

Torque modelling and load calculations are refined to work seamlessly with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9-speed transmission and AMG Performance 4MATIC+ AWD system, ensuring smooth power delivery without drivability issues.

 

Factory Safety Systems Retained

All OEM engine protection strategies remain active, including:

Recommended Supporting Upgrades

  • Spark Plugs: For Stage 2 setups we recommend NGK 97506 (1-step colder) spark plugs gapped to 0.022".
  • Fuel Requirement: Minimum 93 Octane (98 RON) required to achieve advertised performance figures.
  • Optional Feature: Sport+ / Race mode enhanced overrun crackles (pops & bangs) available upon request.
